The Pennsylvania Department of Education’s Annual Parent Conference is designed for parents of school-aged children and administrators/staff who work with parents in education programs. The conference includes keynote speakers, more than 40 individual workshops, award winning childcare, and networking opportunities. Act 48 hours are available for educators and administrators attending the conference.

Who Can Attend the Conference?

PA School Districts that recieve Title I funding will receive information regarding the SPAC Conference in the spring. This conference is designed for parents who want to learn ideas and strategies to help their child at home, or who want to become parent leaders at the school level.

Topics included at the Conference

For parents who want to learn ideas and strategies to help their child at home topics include:

 - Strategies for helping children in various content areas at all grade levels
 - Reading/math learning process
- Understanding what types of additional assistance is available (Title I, tutoring, community organizations)
 - Understanding standards and PSSA
 - Using technology and social media
 - Understanding child development and different learning styles

For parents who want to become a parent leader at the school level, topics include:

 - Working with principals and classroom teachers
 - Leadership training
 - Awareness of community resources/grants
 - School Improvement requirements
 - Effective Practices/parent outreach programs
